How to make your own grow tent:
Since making your own tent is comparatively cheaper and the entire procedure from making tents to growing a full-size plant will be completely done by the planter. Grow tents can be made in various shapes and sizes depending upon the plant’s full-grown size and cultivator’s requirements.
Hence before finalizing the size of the grow tent, it is important to know about the plant that needs to be grown. Some plants may grow vertically straight with strong stems and grow high. Whereas some may grow horizontally with lots of leaves and bushes. Hence the shape and size need to be considered after knowing about plant’s full growth pattern.

Although the frame can also be made of wood but the cost of grow tent will reduce remarkably if the frame is made from PVC pipes. PVC pipes are cheap and easily available.
Once the frame is ready, you need to cover it properly and make it light proof. Grow tents must always be light-blocking and not let any light come inside the grow tent. The inner walls of the grow tent should be made of reflective walls. These walls help in maximising the light production in the grow tent. There are options of Mylar sheets which are sliver shinny sheets that can be used as reflective walls or White polyethene sheets are also used as reflective walls.
Installation of grow lights:
In the grow tent, for plant cultivation, the most important equipment is Grow lights. Although there are many options available in market li High intensity discharge lights, Ceramic metal halides, High pressure sodium lights, LED lights, Metal halides, fluorescent lights etc. But for this smaller size either LED full spectrum light or fluorescent lights are recommended. Soil pit / Coco coir for plantation:
After the whole setup is completed, decide on what base will your plants grow. You need to arrange soil pots or coco coir pots (as per your planting choice). Make a place for them in the grow tent. The size of the pots should be according to the grow tent and considering the full-grown plant size.
When plants are grown indoors, there are some natural requirements that need to be fulfilled. Like lights, nutrients, water and air. Plants need carbon dioxide for their photosynthesis procedure. Hence it is extremely essential to install exhaust fans for the proper supply for air and carbon dioxide to the plants. When you buy a manufactured grow tent, there is already a panel for ventilation. But id you make a tent your self you need to make a proper space for ventilation for plants. In a normal sized grow tent, you may use 4 to 5 inches of exhaust fan for air to be used by plants.

Grow tents are easy to set up. Once all the equipment’s are available, you can make a grow tent and start cultivation. Even the grow tents can be made at home. Hence no initial high infrastructural cost is incurred. But it is important to have light proof tent and have a proper ventilation system in the tent. Installation of grow lights and other requirements are fulfilled, you can start with the cultivation.
Setting up a grow tents has less expenses as compared to setting up an indoor grow area. Having all facilities like reflective walls, grow lights, light proof area and ventilation, like those of indoor grow area in much lower cost. Setting up a grow tent may require 50- 60$ money while indoor cultivation is bit expensive. Also, it would be very difficult for cultivators to create an indoor cultivation area. But a grow tent can be made easily.

While growing in a small area like grow tents, the cultivation area is very small and can not fit more than 2 – 3 full grown plants. Whereas in indoor cultivation, the grow area is bigger, and cultivators can have more no of plants and higher yields. Also, if there is a large cultivation area it can be used for different plantations at the same time.
It limits the number of plants cultivated and plant full grown size:
Since the plants doubles in size when fully grown, grow tents can only have very limited fully-grown plants because of the smaller area used for cultivation. Usage of grow tents thus limits to growing plants for hobby or on trial basis and then moving to bigger cultivation area.
